MEDIA STATEMENT

STATEMENT BY JOHOR CORPORATION
Johor Corporation (JCorp) refers to the recent report published by Wahana Lingkungan Hidup Indonesia (WALHI), which associates JCorp with Indonesian plantation companies in connection with forest and land fires.
JCorp wishes to clarify that it does not own or operate any plantations outside Malaysia.
JCorp through its wholly owned subsidiary, Kulim (Malaysia) Berhad (Kulim) divested its interests in the following Indonesian companies in 2007:
• 8 August 2007: PT Graha Cakra Mulia, PT Sumber Mahardhika Graha, PT Salonok Ladang Mas and PT Harapan Hibrida Kalbar.
• 26 September 2007: PT Trimurti Sumbertama.
These disposals are recorded in JCorp’s 2008 Annual Report.
Subsequently, on 6 July 2023, Kulim divested its entire equity interest in PT Tempirai Palm Resources and PT Rambang Agro Jaya to PT Bakung Starch Lestari.
JCorp has no ownership interest or operational involvement in these companies.
The continued publication and circulation of these claims creates the false impression that JCorp owns, controls or operates the relevant companies and is connected to the alleged incidents. As a state-owned institution, these unwarranted insinuations cause serious reputational harm to JCorp and the Johor State Government.
